About the Role
Under general supervision, performs a variety of analytical and technical tasks in the administration of the City's Water Quality Programs, ensuring regulatory compliance with Federal and State water legislation and policy.
What You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and regularly update the Water Division's Water Quality and Production programs
- Advise Production/Operations staff on water quality concerns affecting treatment and operations
- Oversee the Water Division's Cross Connection Control Program
- Prepare water data reports, plans, specifications, and NPDES permit applications
- Respond to customer water quality inquiries and complaints
- Analyze water test results and consult with regulatory agencies (State Dept. of Health, LA County DHS, EPA, Regional Water Quality Control Board)
- Perform laboratory inspections and administer contract laboratory services
Requirements
- Knowledge of water treatment and quality testing principles, Title 17 and Title 22 regulatory codes, and the NPDES permit program
- Skill in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word)
- Ability to research and interpret water quality regulations, compile and analyze data, and perform basic laboratory water testing
Education/Training
High school graduation or equivalent, plus two years of technical training, job experience, and/or college coursework such as biology or chemistry.
