About the Role
Under direct supervision, performs entry-level para-professional engineering work involving basic engineering knowledge and skills.
What You'll Do
- Plot cross sections, profiles, and contours
- Check permit and connection applications against departmental drawings and records
- Verify existing improvements from maps and compute changes to lot lines and assessments
- Compile data for plans, specifications, and reports
- Perform calculations using algebra and trigonometry
- Prepare maps, layouts, plans, and drawings from sketches or notes; trace drawings and maps
- Draw graphs and charts to illustrate statistical data
- Research public records using engineering terminology and drafting knowledge
Requirements
- Knowledge of drafting instruments, engineering surveying/drafting terminology, and algebra/trigonometry
- Ability to perform accurate calculations and read/interpret maps and engineering drawings
- Ability to sketch, trace, delineate, and letter
Education/Training
Completion of two years' college coursework (60 semester units) emphasizing engineering or a related subject, including drafting, algebra, and trigonometry with a grade C or better. A valid California Class C driver's license may be required.
