Theatre Technician - Substitute

About the Role

Glendale Community College is seeking a substitute Theatre Technician to provide technical support for music, dance, theater productions, and special events on an as-needed basis.

Pay: $31.28/hr | Type: Temporary substitute (schedule varies as needed)

Essential Duties

• Perform technical theatrical duties for music, dance, theater productions, and special events
• Review scenic plans, lighting, video and audio plots; work from blueprints to design and construct stage sets
• Install and maintain theatrical control systems; operate video, sound, and lighting consoles during performances
• Design, implement, program, and maintain computerized playback systems
• Attend and assist with technical and dress rehearsals
• Provide technical expertise to faculty and students in stagecraft, lighting, and audio

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: 1 year of college coursework (30 semester units) in theatre arts, technical theatrics, or multimedia productions
• Experience: 4 years of technical theater/dramatic production work in set construction, stage rigging, lighting, audio, or video -- including computerized theatrical control systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Theatrical set design, construction, lighting, rigging, video, and audio
• Computerized theatrical control systems
• Safety measures for theater productions
• Basic electrical theory as applied to stage equipment
