Chemistry Instructor

About the Role

Full-time, tenure-track Chemistry Instructor in the Division of Physical Sciences at Glendale Community College. 15 instructional hours/week + 5 office hours + committee participation.

Start Date: Spring 2027 | Schedule: 10 months/year | Format: Onsite, online, or hybrid (may include evenings/Saturdays)

What You'll Do

• Teach Chemistry courses using demonstrations, active learning, and lectures
• Maintain student records (attendance, grades, census)
• Hold regular office hours and remain accessible to students
• Assist in curriculum development and policy
• Participate in campus governance, committees, and faculty meetings
• Pursue staff development and continuing education activities
• Support equity and student success outcomes

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's in chemistry, OR
• Bachelor's in chemistry or biochemistry AND Master's in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry, OR
• The equivalent

Desirable Qualifications

• College-level Chemistry teaching experience
• Learning management system (LMS) experience
• Curriculum development experience
• Experience supporting underrepresented students in higher education
• Active learning and culturally responsive teaching practices
• Distance education experience

Pay & Benefits

$72,928–$100,966/yr (based on education and experience)
