About the Role
Systems Engineer III at Crane Aerospace & Electronics in Burbank, CA — a leader in critical aerospace and defense systems including brake control systems and premium cabin actuation solutions flying on tens of thousands of aircraft worldwide.
Working with minimal supervision, the Systems Engineer III researches, plans, designs, and develops products for the Aerospace and Electronics marketplace, including new product designs, modernization, and upgrades.
What You'll Do
- Work with all functional groups to achieve product performance and cost targets
- Create and maintain Model Based Systems Engineering models; perform what-if analyses and simulation use cases
- Understand, decompose, and define product and process requirements for product development, sustaining, and R&D
- Plan, estimate, and manage work activities to meet project schedules and budgets
- Produce design and development work meeting customer specifications for schedule, cost, quality, and reliability
- Identify root causes and corrective actions for technical challenges
- Generate and review product development documentation (technical reports, procedures)
- Contribute to all Systems Engineering aspects: architecture, requirements, verification, and flow down to functional engineering groups
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience with system development per industry recognized processes (e.g. ARP4754)
- Experience with DO-178, DO-254, and DO-160
- Understanding of Systems Engineering principles, requirements management, and verification
- Experience with multi-physics modeling and simulation (e.g. Simulink)
- US person status required (ITAR-controlled access may apply)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering
- Experience with AI applications in engineering or aerospace systems
- Working knowledge of DOORS (requirements management)
Schedule & Pay
On-site, full-time. Up to 10% domestic and international travel. Salary range: $131,000–$154,000/yr. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance from first month; 15 days PTO + 12 holidays; 401(k) with company match; education reimbursement.
