About the role
Conventional Machinist at Crane Aerospace & Electronics' Burbank facility, supporting precision parts manufacturing for aerospace and defense systems — including brake control and cabin actuation systems flying on tens of thousands of aircraft worldwide.
First Shift: Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM–2:00 PM. Flexibility for overtime and weekends required.
What you'll do
- Set up and operate conventional lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, and drill presses to machine parts to specification
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials
- Measure, examine, and test completed units using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gages)
- Monitor feed and speed of machines during machining operations
- Study sample parts, blueprints, and drawings to determine methods and sequences for fabricating to GD&T tolerances
- Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for each job
- Listen to equipment for malfunctions and compensate accordingly
- Communicate technical information with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel
Requirements
- 1+ year of conventional machining training (on-the-job and/or informal)
- Knowledge of inspection equipment, safety procedures, GD&T, and cutting tool geometry
- Good verbal and written communication; strong attention to detail and record keeping
- High school diploma or equivalent
- U.S. Person required (ITAR-controlled; DoD contractor position)
Preferred qualifications
- Aerospace industry experience
- Machine shop coursework at a junior college
- Basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
Working conditions
Normal manufacturing environment. PPE required. Possible exposure to loud noise, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes. Must be willing to work overtime.
Pay & benefits
$24.87–$31.74/hr
Benefits start the first day of the month after your start date: health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. 15 days PTO from day one plus 12 paid holidays. 401k with company match. Education reimbursement after 6 months.
