Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (Emerging Capabilities Development) in Woodland Hills, CA is seeking a Staff Navigation Systems Engineer to design and implement model-based navigation software. This position is contingent upon funding/contract award. Full-time on-site.
What You'll Get To Do
- Architect and guide implementation of cutting-edge navigation algorithms, software, and system integrations
- Define and execute the technical roadmap for navigation-performance analysis across lab and flight-test environments
- Own communication channels with program leadership, external customers, and cross-functional partners
- Champion collaboration with internal/external experts to pioneer next-generation navigation and timing technologies
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of navigation and timing specialists
- Represent Northrop Grumman at technical conferences, industry working groups, and customer briefings
- Mentor emerging talent and drive best-practice adoption
Basic Qualifications
- BS in STEM + 12 years OR MS + 10 years OR PhD + 8 years of engineering experience
- Expertise in sensor fusion (IMU, GPS, barometers) for navigation systems
- Expertise in advanced state-estimation algorithms (EKF, UKF, Particle Filtering)
- Expertise in INS mechanizations and embedded INS/GPS navigation systems
- Expertise in multi-sensor synchronization/calibration and noise modeling
- US Citizenship; ability to obtain US Government Secret clearance
- Full-time on-site in Woodland Hills, CA
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with APNT solutions for GPS-denied environments
- Familiarity with M-code signal processing and military navigation modernization
- Familiarity with Timing and Distributed Clock Algorithms
Salary Range: $177,000-$265,600/year
