Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is seeking a Principal Digital Design Engineer to join the Hardware Development and Integration Team. No remote work -- full-time on-site in Northridge, CA.

What You'll Get To Do

• Layout of complex PCBs and flex circuits, interconnect routing
• Interface with electrical and mechanical engineers for component placement, routing, and mechanical fitment for rigid, flex, and rigid-flex assemblies
• Design to electrical requirements and mechanical outlines for producibility and manufacturability
• Calculate layer stack-up based on industry standards, supplier capabilities, and engineering requirements
• Generate PCB, Assembly, Part Lists, and Component drawings
• Create electronic data file outputs for fabrication and manufacturing
• Design, develop, modify and evaluate digital electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry
• Maintain and update CAD central libraries
• Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's in STEM + 5 years OR Master's in STEM + 3 years of relevant experience
• Drafting and design experience with PCB layout and layer stack-up (analog, digital, RF, mixed signal)
• Knowledge of industry specifications and DFM rules for CCA and PCB design
• Familiarity with PCB design for CCAs with 20+ layers from prototype to production
• Ability to obtain US Government DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced STEM degree
• Active DoD Secret clearance
• Knowledge of EDA tools such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition
• MIL-STD compliant design experience
• Experience with electronic packaging for airborne and space applications

Salary Range: $125,300-$187,900/year
