Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Woodland Hills, CA is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Aerospace Engineer to join the Engineering & Sciences organization. Full-time on-site in Woodland Hills.
What You'll Get To Do
- Develop and maintain physics-based models and simulations of inertial navigation systems (INS) including sensors (gyros, accelerometers), error sources, and environmental effects
- Perform Monte Carlo analyses, sensitivity studies, and trade-off analyses to assess system performance and margins
- Analyze lab, flight, and field test data to validate models and quantify performance
- Support requirements decomposition with model-based performance predictions and error budgets
- Generate and maintain simulation frameworks (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++)
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software teams on HIL and SIL environments
- Contribute to test planning; analyze test and qualification results; perform root cause investigations
- Prepare technical documentation including modeling assumptions, validation reports, and analysis briefs
- Mentor junior engineers in modeling, simulation, and data analysis
Basic Qualifications
Principal: BS in STEM + 5 years OR MS + 3 years OR PhD + 1 year relevant experience Senior Principal: BS in STEM + 8 years OR MS + 6 years OR PhD + 4 years relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis for complex systems
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and Python
- Experience processing and analyzing sensor or navigation data sets
- Active US Government Secret clearance required
- US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Applied Mathematics
- Experience with inertial navigation systems (INS), IMU modeling, navigation algorithms
- Experience with GNC, Kalman filtering, state estimation, or sensor fusion
- Experience with C/C++ or Python for algorithm development
Primary Salary Range: $114,000-$171,000/year Senior Level Salary Range: $142,200-$213,400/year
