Senior Manager, External Communications

About the Role

Senior Manager, External Communications leading media relations for Disney Experiences (DX) — Disney's global theme parks and resorts, cruise line, and Walt Disney Imagineering businesses. You'll lead a team of communications professionals and oversee global media relations to elevate brand visibility and protect reputation.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of media relations professionals including manager-level talent
• Set strategic direction and oversee execution of proactive media strategies
• Partner with the Manager, External Communications on high-impact media plans

Media Strategy & Outreach:

• Develop and execute integrated media strategies across Tier 1, trade, regional, niche, and emerging media platforms
• Cultivate strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers, and creators
• Lead rapid-response efforts and manage sensitive media inquiries with precision

Issues & Crisis Communication:

• Lead development and execution of media strategies during issues and crises
• Anticipate emerging reputational risks and guide media response under pressure

Storytelling & Content Development:

• Identify and develop compelling stories across DX businesses
• Oversee press materials, media pitches, and executive messaging
• Prepare senior leaders and spokespeople for media engagements

Requirements

• 7+ years of media relations experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Demonstrated success securing coverage in Tier 1 outlets (New York Times, Bloomberg, CNN)
• Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills
• Experience leading issues and crisis communications
• Bachelor's degree in a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of media relations experience
• Experience in travel/leisure, entertainment, and/or consumer goods industries
• Bilingual abilities

Pay & Benefits

$139,200–$186,600/year. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided in addition to full medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
