About the Role
Under direction, responsible for operating a City of Burbank municipal swimming pool on an assigned shift, acting for the pool manager in their absence, and performing lifeguard and instructor duties.
What You'll Do
- Supervise facilities and personnel at a municipal pool; open/close the pool and maintain sanitary, safe conditions
- Enforce rules, maintain discipline, anticipate hazards, and take precautionary measures
- Rescue swimmers in distress; render first aid and CPR
- Train lifeguards; organize and conduct swim meets and aquatic programs
- Instruct or assist with diving, swimming, and lifesaving classes
- Test water, check equipment, maintain attendance/financial records, and prepare staff schedules
Requirements
- High school graduation and one season's experience as a lifeguard and instructor (320 hours)
- Minimum age 18 at appointment; good physical condition
- Valid California Class "C" driver's license, First Aid Certificate, Water Safety Instructor's Certificate, and Lifeguard Certificate at appointment
- CPR and Communicable Disease certificates within two weeks of appointment
Pay
$26.04–$30.20/hour
