Principal / Senior Principal Systems Engineer

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer in Woodland Hills, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering principles and extensive experience executing post-CDR program phases, including integration and test, verification sell-off, and production transition.

What You'll Get to Do

• Own the post-CDR technical baseline, ensuring requirements, architectures, and ICDs remain consistent, traceable, and properly controlled
• Refine and maintain the verification cross-reference matrix, mapping each requirement to specific test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration
• Lead integration and test planning and execution; develop test procedures and coordinate lab resources
• Execute formal verification campaigns, analyze test results, and maintain verification status reporting
• Support system validation and operational suitability activities including mission-scenario testing
• Partner with Operations and Manufacturing to enable production transition
• Drive configuration and change management, leading or participating in CCBs
• Maintain and report on the risk and issues register for post-CDR phases
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Basic Qualifications (Principal, Level 3)

• BS in STEM + 5 years related Systems Engineering experience; MS + 3 years; PhD + 1 year
• Demonstrated systems engineering experience in aerospace or defense
• Proficient with DOORS, CAMEO, MATLAB, or comparable software
• Ability to obtain/maintain Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance

Basic Qualifications (Senior Principal, Level 4)

• BS in STEM + 8 years; MS + 6 years; PhD + 4 years
• Proven track record leading complex systems engineering activities

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance
• Experience with inertial navigation systems or guidance systems
• Experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE)

Salary Range

• Principal (Level 3): $114,000–$171,000/year
• Senior Principal (Level 4): $142,500–$213,800/year
