Principal / Senior Principal Mechanical Analysis Engineer

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Woodland Hills, CA is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Mechanical Analysis Engineer to support military avionics including inertial navigation, measurement systems, and mission computers for the Sentinel program. 9/80 schedule. Full-time on-site -- no remote work.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis including static, dynamic, stability, and damage tolerance analysis of metallic structures and mechanical/electromechanical systems
• Build Finite Element Models (FEMs) using CAD geometry, meshing, and running solutions
• Review drawings and requirements; compute margins using appropriate methods
• Document structural analysis methods and implementation using calculation aids
• Document static/dynamic test plans and procedure requirements
• Support material review board (MRB) and nonconformance to ensure structural substantiation
• Participate in and present at internal and external (customer) design reviews

Basic Qualifications

Principal: BS + 5 years OR MS + 3 years OR PhD + 0 years in STEM Senior Principal: BS + 8 years OR MS + 6 years OR PhD + 4 years in STEM

• Active US Government Secret clearance required
• Experience developing FEA models and conducting analyses in ANSYS
• Experience in 3+ areas: FEA modeling, static, modal, buckling, dynamic (sine/random/acoustic), thermal, bolted joint analyses
• US Citizenship required; full-time on-site in Woodland Hills

Preferred Qualifications

• Thermal analysis experience
• CCA analysis experience
• 3D CAD software (Catia, NX, SolidWorks, etc.)
• Experience supporting structural test and data reduction

Primary Salary Range: $103,600-$155,400/year Senior Principal Salary Range: $129,300-$193,900/year
