About the Role
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking multiple Principal Electrical Components Engineers or Sr. Principal Electrical Components Engineers in Woodland Hills, CA, supporting multiple programs. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package and may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications. The standard work schedule is a 9/80 (a nine-hour day Monday-Thursday, with every other Friday off).
What You'll Do
- Work with design engineers on selection and application of EEEE parts (Microcircuits, Connectors, Passive Devices, Printed Circuit Boards)
- Create Component Specifications or Source Control Documents to meet program requirements
- Lead and conduct qualifications of new EEEE components for new Circuit Card Assembly designs
- Work with manufacturing and component vendors to resolve qualification, producibility, and test issues
- Manage Bill-of-Materials, new part requests, part objects, and attributes in a PLM system
- Support Supply Chain with component procurement requirements and supplier selection
- Tailor and allocate EEEE part and Circuit Card Assembly requirements to system/subsystem/unit specifications
- Support subcontractors with EEEE part requirements and review Subcontractor Data Requirements Lists (SDRLs)
- Perform BOM analysis and generate Problem Reports and Engineering Changes
- Support system derating consistency at part and system level
- Drive EEE parts risk management including obsolescence and GIDEP alert surveillance
Requirements
Principal (Level 3): Bachelor's in STEM + 5 years, Master's + 3 years, or PhD + 1 year of relevant experience.
Senior Principal (Level 4): Bachelor's in STEM + 8 years, Master's + 6 years, or PhD + 4 years of relevant experience.
Both levels:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher
- Experience in military/space electronics design or manufacturing
- Familiarity with selection and application of EEEE components
- Experience developing component data/drawings and selecting EEEE parts to meet program objectives
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools; U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field
- Experience supporting high-reliability aerospace/defense electronics across the full lifecycle
- Working knowledge of NASA & Military Performance documents (MIL-PRF-38534, 38535, 19500, 123, 55342, 39016, 981, IPC-6012, MIL-PRF-31032)
- Experience developing Source Control Drawings or Component Specifications
- Experience leading supplier technical reviews and derating analysis of EEEE components
- Active DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance
Schedule
Full-time, on-site in Woodland Hills, CA, on a 9/80 schedule. Travel: 10% of the time.

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00 (Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00 for higher-graded fills).
