Police Officer Trainee

About the Role

Police Officer Trainee at Glendale Community College Police Department. Non-sworn probationary position attending a POST-certified police academy. Upon graduation, promoted to Police Officer.

Schedule: 40 hours/week, 12 months/year (may include nights, weekends, holidays)

What You'll Do (at the Academy)

• Leadership, professionalism, and ethics
• Federal and state criminal law and procedures
• Response, enforcement, and patrol techniques
• Investigation of crimes and accidents; report writing
• Crisis intervention and emergency management
• First aid and hazardous materials
• Arrest and control procedures; firearms and chemical agents; vehicle operations
• Physical conditioning program; cultural diversity

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, California High School Proficiency Exam, or 2- or 4-year college degree
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid California driver's license
• No felony convictions
• Pass background investigation, medical, and psychological evaluations
• May require physical agility test for academy entry

Pay & Benefits

$5,421.58–$5,977.29/month (based on education and experience)
