About the Role
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is hiring a Hardware Engineering Manager 1 based in Woodland Hills, CA, working a 9/80 schedule, fully onsite. This is an 80/20 role: 80% of time on program activities, 20% on staff management and development.
What You'll Do
- Manage/oversee engineering design, development, and transition to production of PCB (printed circuit board), parts library, layout, and component engineering of inertial navigation systems
- Develop and implement processes emphasizing quantitative management and continuous improvement
- Provide management guidance to achieve cost, schedule, and technical performance goals
- Provide technical guidance and oversight in developing technical and cost proposals
- Interface with business-focused discipline leads to coordinate staffing and skill mix
- Mentor and challenge team members; support career planning/development
- Handle manager duties: performance and salary reviews, timecard approval, performance management, and elevated employee matters with HR
Requirements
- Bachelor's in STEM or related discipline + 5 years, Master's + 3 years, or PhD + 1 year of relevant experience
- Printed Circuit Board design or fabrication experience
- Experience leading a team on a technical development effort or production support
- Understanding of engineering processes and tools used in PCB layout and/or components engineering
- Experience with CCA design, fabrication, and/or test and verification
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and processes for hardware designs
- Experience generating and/or reviewing cost estimates/basis of estimates (BOEs)
- U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret clearance; ability to manage a geographically dispersed team; must work full-time onsite
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a technical field
- Track record leading engineering teams and building relationships with functional organizations/Program Offices
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter Enterprise/UA or Tc AW - Active Workspace
- Experience with failure analysis techniques (RCCAs)
- Technical project management with budget/EVMS experience
- Knowledge of engineering planning, scheduling, metrics, earned value systems, and workload forecasting
Schedule
Full-time, onsite in Woodland Hills, CA, on a 9/80 schedule. Travel: 10% of the time.
Pay & Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $121,000.00 - $181,600.00 (base pay; final offer depends on experience, education, skills, and market conditions). Employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
