About the Role
Senior manager responsible for strategic leadership and oversight of the Walt Disney Studios Fire Department — a private fire department based at the Burbank studio lot and supporting the Glendale Campus and Prospect Studios. Part of Global Emergency Preparedness & Response (GEPR).
What You'll Do
- Lead all Studio Fire Department operations: fire prevention, life safety, policy development, emergency response planning, training, staffing, and budget
- Develop and lead a team of Fire Captains and Volunteer Fire Department personnel
- Oversee fire and life-safety initiatives across supported properties: inspections, fire protection system testing, impairment management, hazard mitigation, and regulatory compliance
- Direct administration, governance, and training for the Volunteer Fire Department program
- Provide executive leadership and oversight for the Unified Incident Command Team (UICT) program
- Serve as the senior fire and life-safety advisor to business leaders, production partners, and facilities teams
- Maintain collaborative relationships with municipal fire departments, emergency management agencies, and regulatory authorities
- Oversee evacuation drills, emergency exercises, alarm investigations, and incident reviews
- Serve as on-call senior leader and incident commander for significant fire, life-safety, or emergency events
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in fire service management
- California State Fire Marshal Fire Fighter I and II Certification (or equivalent)
- California State Fire Marshal Prevention 1A and 1B, Fire Officer 1 (or equivalent)
- California State Fire Marshal Fire Safety Officer certification (obtainable within one year of hire)
- Valid California Driver's License
- Ability to wear Fire Department PPE including Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- Associate's degree in Fire Technology and/or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Motion Picture/Television industry
- Experience in fire department management, emergency management, and disaster preparedness
- Experience working within a mutual-aid framework alongside municipal fire departments
Pay & Benefits
$115,500–$154,800/year. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided in addition to full medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
