Early Childhood Educator - Substitute

About the Role

Glendale Community College is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to serve as a temporary substitute at the Child Development Center. Works with children ages 6 months through preschool age. Schedule varies based on coverage needs.

What You'll Do

• Deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum across social, emotional, cognitive, physical, literacy, and language domains
• Perform daily care routines (diapering, feeding, toileting) per Title 22 and NAEYC standards
• Assess children using DRDP and ASQ-3/ASQ-SE tools to guide curriculum planning
• Document children's growth and development through portfolios, anecdotal notes, and photos
• Serve nutritional meals and record meal counts per CACFP requirements
• Provide work direction and mentorship to college students in the Child Development Center
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized learning environments

Requirements

• Valid California Child Development Teacher Permit
• 6 units of Infant/Toddler coursework
• Current certification in pediatric first aid and CPR
• 16 hours of CA EMSA approved preventive health practice training
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

Pay & Benefits

$23.26/hr · Temporary substitute, as-needed

Benefits include medical/dental/vision, CalPERS or CalSTRS retirement, and paid sick leave.
