Early Childhood Educator – Substitute

About the Role

Temporary substitute position at the GCC Child Development Center and Parent Support Center, providing care and education for children ages 6 months through preschool age and training college students.

Temporary/substitute | Schedule varies as needed | $23.26/hr

What You'll Do

• Deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum (social, emotional, cognitive, physical, literacy, language development)
• Perform daily care routines (diapering, grooming, feeding, toileting) per Title 22/NAEYC standards
• Assess children using DRDP, ASQ-3, and ASQ-SE; create portfolios with anecdotal notes, photos, and work samples
• Serve nutritional meals and snacks in compliance with CACFP requirements
• Set up and supervise interest centers (art, science, blocks); maintain safe, clean environments per ITERS/CLASS/ECERS standards
• Mentor and provide work direction to college students at the Child Development Center
• Maintain documentation: attendance, curriculum, daily care routines, parent conference records

Requirements

• Valid Child Development Teacher Permit (CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing)
• 6 units of Infant/Toddler Care coursework
• Current pediatric first aid and CPR certification (Red Cross or AHA)
• 16 hours of CA EMS Authority-approved preventive health practices training

Pay

$23.26/hr
