About the Role
The Director, Global Communications serves as a strategic communications leader supporting Universal Film's corporate communications and media relations efforts. Partnering with senior communications leaders and stakeholders across distribution, home entertainment, and film labels, this role shapes and executes communication strategies that elevate the organization's reputation, business priorities, and executive visibility.
Hybrid: Minimum four days per week at the Universal City, CA office.
What You'll Do
Strategic Communications & Media Relations
- Develop and execute strategic communications programs supporting Universal Film's business priorities
- Monitor industry, competitive, and cultural trends to identify opportunities and risks
- Partner with business leaders to proactively develop communications strategies
- Contribute thought leadership ideas, storytelling opportunities, and innovative communications approaches
Execution & Impact
- Lead coordination across Government Affairs, Legal, MPA, HR, Global TV Distribution, Film Music, Talent Development, AI and Innovation
- Collaborate on editorials and issues with Focus, DreamWorks, and Universal Theatrical Group
- Draft and oversee press releases, messaging documents, presentations, and executive communications
- Support media relations including box office reporting, transactional communications, and executive visibility initiatives
- Oversee industry coverage reports including earnings and investor conferences
- Manage media lists and databases
Collaboration & Leadership
- Influence and align stakeholders around communications strategies
- Coach and develop junior team members
- Exercise sound judgment when managing sensitive business issues
Requirements
- 7+ years of communications, media relations, public relations, or related experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or journalism preferred
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing complex communications strategies
- Solid business acumen and ability to connect communications to organizational priorities
- Exceptional writing, messaging, presentation, and storytelling skills
- Entertainment, media, studio, agency, or related industry experience preferred
Pay & Benefits
$130,000–$160,000/yr (Universal City, CA). Bonus and long-term incentive eligible. Company sponsored benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and other perks.
