Assistant Professor - Director of Forensics, Department of Communication Studies, Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication.

• Employment Type: Full-time, Tenure-Track
• Work Mode: On-site (Northridge campus)
• Effective Date: Fall 2027 (subject to budgetary approval)

What You'll Do

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (9 units/semester for the first two years, then 12 units)
• Maintain office hours and attend faculty meetings
• Participate in student learning assessments
• Provide service to the department
• Coach evidence-backed debate formats
• Coordinate forensics program operations, including travel supervision

Requirements

• Earned Ph.D. in Communication Studies or a related field
• Minimum two years coaching experience in evidence-backed debate formats
• Evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching argumentation courses
• Research and scholarly activity resulting in peer-reviewed publications
• Ability to mentor diverse student populations

Preferred Qualifications

• Organizing public debate events
• Coaching individual events
• Research supporting social justice initiatives
• Use of inclusive pedagogical practices in the classroom

Pay & Benefits

• Salary Range: $88,000 to $95,000, dependent upon qualifications
