About the Role
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a skilled, self-initiating Staff Engineer, Systems to serve as technical lead on requirements development, test case development, and verification and validation. You'll act as the technical point of contact to the Chief Engineer and customer, guide technical concepts from development to mature solutions, and serve as the team's spokesperson on advanced technical matters. Role is on-site full-time at Woodland Hills, CA. Secret clearance required for start.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify requirements from a broad customer base and flow them into design documentation
- Solve complex technical problems and present solutions to customers and program leadership
- Generate, review, and manage requirements sets covering mechanical, electrical, data, environmental, and reliability aspects
- Lead an Agile team to verify designs against system requirements
- Ensure requirements are verified through inspection, analysis, demonstration, or test
- Provide test directions for production and troubleshooting tests
Basic Qualifications
- BS in STEM + 12+ years engineering experience, OR MS in STEM + 10+ years, OR PhD in STEM + 8+ years
- IBM Rational DOORS proficiency: technical baseline management, writing/updating requirements, decomposing customer specs
- Experience in System Engineering: requirements development, test case development, V&V
- Strong communication skills; experience presenting to stakeholders and program leadership
- Demonstrated experience leading test investigations and debugging
- U.S. Citizenship required; active Secret clearance required
- Must work on-site at Woodland Hills, CA
Preferred Qualifications
- Interfaces: MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, Ethernet
- Agile team leadership and JIRA
- Model Based Systems Engineering / Cameo modeling
- ClearQuest / ClearCase
- Lab, software, and system integration experience
Pay & Benefits
$177,000–$265,600/year
Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and PTO.
