Summary
Age of Learning is seeking a Senior Quality Owner to own quality outcomes for assigned products, features, and initiatives. As the primary Quality representative for assigned product areas, you will operate as a highly autonomous, hands-on individual contributor with end-to-end ownership of quality outcomes, from early planning and risk assessment through testing, automation, release readiness, and post-release validation.
Unlike traditional QA roles focused primarily on test execution, Quality Owners are embedded partners in the product development process. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Data, and other stakeholders to influence decisions, identify risk early, and help teams deliver exceptional experiences for learners and families.
The ideal candidate combines strong software quality fundamentals with technical curiosity, sound judgment, cross-functional leadership, and a willingness to embrace AI-assisted tools, automation, and emerging technologies to continuously improve how quality is delivered.
Responsibilities
Own end-to-end quality outcomes for assigned products, features, and initiatives
Serve as the primary Quality representative within assigned cross-functional product teams
Develop and execute risk-based testing strategies based on product complexity, customer impact, technical risk, and business priorities
Perform hands-on functional, exploratory, integration, regression, and white-box testing as appropriate
Contribute to automated testing using AI-assisted tooling and modern automation frameworks
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Data, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle
Influence product planning, technical design, and delivery decisions to improve quality outcomes and customer experience
Investigate defects and analyze technical, product, and quality signals to identify root causes and drive resolution
Provide release recommendations and quality signoff based on objective risk assessment and testing results
Leverage AI, automation, tooling, and emerging technologies to improve testing effectiveness, efficiency, coverage, and organizational leverage
Use production telemetry, analytics, monitoring, and customer feedback to understand and improve quality after release
Continuously identify and drive improvements to testing methodologies, automation, tooling, and quality practices
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally consumer-facing and content-driven web or mobile applications
7+ years of progressive experience in software quality, software testing, quality engineering, or related disciplines
Demonstrated success owning quality outcomes for products, features, or business initiatives
Strong expertise in test strategy, risk assessment, exploratory testing, and modern software delivery practices
Familiarity with test automation and an understanding of how automation can complement manual and exploratory testing
Demonstrated ability or strong willingness to leverage AI-assisted tools, automation, and emerging technologies to improve quality outcomes and effectiveness
Proven ability to operate independently, make sound quality decisions, and influence stakeholders without direct authority
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively balance customer experience, quality risk, business priorities, and delivery timelines
Preferred Qualifications
Experience testing consumer-facing web and mobile applications
Experience using production telemetry, application monitoring, analytics, and customer feedback to investigate and validate product quality
Experience leading quality efforts or acting as the primary Quality representative within an embedded product or development team
Experience creating or maintaining automated tests using modern testing frameworks
Experience working across multiple products or business areas
Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other quality professionals
Experience driving improvements in testing methodologies, automation, tooling, or quality processes
Experience working in Agile software development environments
Experience in consumer software, gaming, educational technology, or other highly interactive digital products
