Principal Systems Engineer

About the Role

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Woodland Hills, CA is seeking a Systems Engineer skilled in requirements development, test case development, and verification and validation. This position may be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal level. The role is onsite full-time, requires an active U.S. Government Secret clearance, and follows a 9/80 schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with customers to identify requirements, flow them into design documentation, and validate with the engineering team
• Present to customers on product capabilities, performance analyses, and requirements verification methods
• Generate, review, and manage requirements sets across mechanical, electrical, data, environmental, and reliability domains
• Lead Agile teams to ensure designs meet system requirements
• Develop test and data reduction scripts; provide test directions for production and troubleshooting tests
• Support contract milestones and deliverables

Basic Qualifications — Principal Systems Engineer

• BS in STEM + 5 years experience; or MS + 3 years; or PhD + 1 year
• Experience with IBM Rational DOORS (technical baseline management, requirements writing, requirements derivation)
• Systems Engineering experience: requirements development, test case development, verification and validation
• Strong communication skills; demonstrated experience presenting to internal and external stakeholders
• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance; U.S. Citizenship required
• Must work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, CA

Basic Qualifications — Senior Principal Systems Engineer

• BS in STEM + 8 years experience; or MS + 6 years; or PhD + 4 years
• All other qualifications same as Principal level

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, or Ethernet interfaces
• Agile engineering team experience; JIRA proficiency
• Large, complex systems engineering experience
• Lab and system integration experience
• Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo or equivalent)

Pay & Benefits

Principal: $114,000–$171,000/yr | Senior Principal: $142,200–$213,400/yr. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and PTO.
