Principal / Sr. Principal Signal & Image Processing Engineer

About the role

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Woodland Hills, CA is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Signal/Image Processing Engineer with an active Top Secret clearance to support sensor exploitation activities in the Artificial Intelligence and Analytics department. Full-time on-site required.

Clearance required at start: Active Top Secret clearance (enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).

What you'll do

• Develop and prototype new signal/image processing algorithms or enhancements to existing algorithms
• Apply classical signal/image processing and AI/ML-based algorithms to large sets of structured and unstructured data
• Solve problems in pattern recognition, target detection and tracking, and false alarm mitigation
• Collaborate with software engineers to ensure algorithms are correct, robust, and maintainable
• Design robust test suites
• Create presentation material and present findings to internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

Principal:

• BS in STEM + 5 years; MS + 3 years; or PhD + 1 year
• Active Top Secret clearance enrolled in Continuous Evaluation
• Background in signal/image processing
• Experience with MATLAB and/or Python
• Strong communication and presentation skills

Sr. Principal:

• BS in STEM + 8 years; MS + 6 years; or PhD + 4 years
• Same clearance and technical requirements

Preferred:

• Experience designing novel mathematical/statistical modeling and algorithm products
• Experience with advanced computer architectures
• Familiarity with C/C++ and current AI/ML techniques

Pay & benefits

• Principal: $125,300–$187,900/yr
• Sr. Principal: $156,400–$234,600/yr

U.S. Citizenship required. 10% travel. Contingent upon active TS clearance transfer.
