About the role

Under direction, perform a variety of peace officer duties in the protection of life and property for the City of Burbank, including patrol, investigations, traffic enforcement, and emergency response.

What you'll do

• Patrol an assigned area by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, or vehicle to prevent and detect criminal activity
• Enforce local ordinances and State/Federal laws; maintain law and order
• Respond to calls involving protection of life and property, traffic incidents, and other duties
• Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations of crimes, accidents, and hazardous situations
• Interview victims, complainants, and witnesses; collect and preserve evidence
• Make arrests, serve warrants and subpoenas, and testify in court
• Respond to demonstrations, riots, hostage situations, and other hazardous incidents

Requirements

• Good moral character with no felony convictions; physically fit
• Knowledge of criminal codes, investigative techniques, rules of evidence, and laws of arrest
• Ability to communicate effectively and make sound judgments under pressure
• Willingness to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime with little notice

Pay & incentives

• $109,257.72–$136,447.74/year
• $20,000 Lateral Hiring Incentive for qualified Police Officer – Lateral hires ($10,000 at hire, $10,000 after probation)
