Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a Media Engineering Manager to lead the technical evolution of Keystone, an internal production technology platform that serves as the front door to the content supply chain. This is a hybrid role based in Burbank, CA.
About the Role
Keystone supports productions from initial intake through final asset delivery, connecting production teams, vendors, QC, localization, media operations, and internal distribution systems. This role requires deep AV media engineering expertise, software development capability, and the ability to lead engineers in a complex, business-critical production environment.
Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, media engineers, and technical contributors
- Provide technical direction across platform architecture, workflow automation, integrations, and media pipeline execution
- Partner with product, operations, and architecture leadership to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
- Establish engineering standards, development practices, and documentation expectations
Media Workflow & Platform
- Design multi-functional media workflows: data I/O, transcode, QC, localization, metadata enrichment, packaging, and final delivery
- Identify workflow gaps and technical bottlenecks that can be improved through automation or platform enhancement
Systems & Integrations
- Lead technical integrations across AWS, SDVI Rally, MAM systems, vendor systems, QC tools, transcode services, and delivery endpoints
- Design intersystem integrations using APIs, event-driven workflows, scripting, and middleware patterns
Hands-On Engineering
- Contribute directly to technical design, code review, scripting, and integration logic
- Support sprint planning, solution design, release planning, and production deployments
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in media engineering or broadcast/post-production technology
- 2+ years in a leadership or management role
- Hands-on experience with media workflow platforms (MAM, PAM, SDVI Rally, or similar)
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, or another scripting language
- Experience with REST APIs and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Strong understanding of media formats, codecs, and delivery standards
Salary Range
$123,200–$228,800/year (range reflects different experience levels). Benefits include health coverage, 401k, paid holidays, and WBD employee discounts.
