Chemistry Instructor (Full-Time, Tenure Track)

About the Role

Glendale Community College seeks an equity-minded, full-time tenure-track Chemistry Instructor. GCC is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) committed to student success and closing equity gaps.

Division: Physical Sciences Teaching load: 15 instructional hours/week + 5 office hours/week Assignment format: Onsite, online, and hybrid; may include evenings and Saturdays Start Date: Spring 2027 First review date: August 18, 2026

What You'll Do

• Teach Chemistry courses using various teaching methods including demonstrations, active learning strategies, and lectures
• Maintain records of attendance, census, and grades
• Hold regular posted office hours and be accessible to students
• Assist in curriculum development and implementation of policies and procedures
• Participate in campus governance, committees, scheduling, faculty meetings, and leadership positions
• Participate in staff development and continuing education activities
• Work toward achievement of Institutional, Program, and Student Learning Outcomes

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's in chemistry
• OR Bachelor's in chemistry or biochemistry AND Master's in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry
• OR the equivalent

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience teaching Chemistry at college or university level
• Curriculum development experience
• Experience with students from underrepresented groups
• Distance education course development and teaching

Pay & Benefits

$72,928–$100,966/yr depending on education and experience. Benefits per collective bargaining agreement, including health & welfare package, CalPERS/CalSTRS retirement, and paid leave.
