Assistant General Manager - Electric Services

About the role

Open examination, one-year probationary period. Under general administrative direction of the General Manager, this upper management position plans, directs, and controls the long-range and short-term electrical services system planning and electrical services management activities, including direct oversight of electrical engineering, field operation, grid system operation, and ongoing operations analysis and improvement. Reports to the General Manager of Glendale Water and Power. Classification Code: 2184.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 8 years of progressively responsible professional experience in electrical engineering, including 4 years in a senior managerial capacity at an electric utility
• Direct management experience overseeing electrical engineering, field operation, and grid system operation highly desirable
• Registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer with the State of California
• Valid California Class C Driver's License (or an alternative transportation method to perform essential job functions)

Working conditions

Work may be performed outdoors in a variety of field and weather conditions, or indoors in shops or offices.
