About the Role
Glendale Police Department is recruiting Reserve Police Officers — citizen volunteers who wear the same uniform and perform the same duties as regular officers on a part-time volunteer basis. Possible compensation at $36.90/hour for court appearances or when needed; a uniform allowance may also apply. Requires a minimum of 32 hours/month while in field training for the first year, and 16 hours/month thereafter. This entry-level, non-sworn classification participates in pre-academy training and the police-training academy.
What You'll Do
- Respond to calls for service: accidents, emergencies, crimes, threats, altercations, requests for aid
- Provide information and assistance to the public, promoting good public relations
- Administer first aid; interview and record statements from witnesses, suspects, and victims
- Promote community-based policing programs
- Apprehend suspects, enforce traffic laws, investigate accidents and juvenile matters
Requirements
- No prior experience required
- High school graduation, GED, CHSPE, HiSET, or CPP certificate
- Valid Class C California driver's license
How to Qualify
Submit an application AND complete the "Law Enforcement – Frontline National" exam through the National Testing Network by September 8, 2026, no earlier than one year before applying.
