About the Role

This position represents 3 openings. As the leader of the health care team, provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization.

What You'll Do

Leadership

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal and local laws.
• Serves as a leader of the health care team; delegates tasks appropriately, and demonstrates appropriate accountability.
• Mentors, orients, and coaches others in unit-specific operations and patient care activities.
• Prioritizes, delegates, and supervises work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.

Nursing Process

• Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care reflecting assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating outcomes.
• Ensures plan is reflective of admission/outpatient database, age-appropriate care, cultural needs, and acuity, and is revised based on patient condition and progress.
• Ensures patient safety regarding medications and procedures (five rights), falls, decubitus prevention, and nosocomial infection prevention.
• Ensures optimal pain control, patient comfort, and that patients understand medication purpose, side effects, and administration instructions.

Patient Care Experience

• Practices customer service standards as defined by the Service Area, Medical Center, and department.
• Promptly answers call lights, alarms, and patient requests.
• Maintains and protects patient confidentiality.
• Treats all families of patients with courtesy, respect, kindness and compassion.

Team & Fiscal Commitment

• Acts as a resource and mentor, participates in mandatory meetings, and maintains attendance standards.
• Organizes work to minimize overtime and maximizes resource utilization.

Requirements

• Minimum one year of recent (within 3 years) full-time-equivalent Emergency Department experience
• California Registered Nurse License
• Basic Life Support certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification

Schedule

• Location: Woodland Hills, California (onsite)
• Full-time, Day shift; 36 scheduled weekly hours; 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
• Every other weekend and some holidays required
• 5-month temporary seasonal commitment (non-benefited)
