About the Role

Staff Mechanical Engineer at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Woodland Hills, CA. Provides technical leadership supporting design, development, testing, and qualification of inertial navigation and measurement systems for defense platforms.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Support design and development for inertial navigation systems and existing product lines
• Perform and review precision-mechanical design work: GD&T, fit/finish, assembly drawings, BOMs, manufacturing work instructions
• Develop and execute mechanical testing and qualification plans (vibration, thermal, shock, vacuum, life testing)
• Work closely with chief engineer and program management to drive hardware design within challenging schedules
• Derive system-level requirements into mechanical designs
• Support root cause analysis and resolution of manufacturing line stops and critical production issues
• Collaborate with engineering, program management, factory operations, global supply chain, and mission assurance
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, maintain best practices for high-reliability inertial products

Basic Qualifications

• BS STEM + 12 yrs experience; MS STEM + 10 yrs; or PhD + 8 yrs
• Mechanical CAD software expertise (Siemens NX preferred)
• GD&T, drawing creation, tolerance stack-up analysis
• Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance and citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

• Siemens NX and Teamcenter PLM proficiency; expert GD&T per ASME Y14.5
• Experience with DOD/Military/Space specifications
• Advanced knowledge of HRG resonator assemblies, isolators, and vibration testing
• Failure-mode analysis and root-cause investigation experience

Pay & Benefits

$161,000–$241,400/yr. Bonus-eligible; health insurance, life/disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and PTO.
