Resident Chaplain

About the Role

Adventist Health Glendale is seeking a Resident Chaplain for a full-time, on-site position (8-hour day shifts) at their Glendale, CA hospital. Working under a seasoned chaplain, this role provides spiritual support to patients, families, and hospital staff, respecting the dignity and faith traditions of each individual.

The position requires active enrollment in an AH-approved Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program (4.0 units completed in one year).

What You'll Do

• Provide pastoral care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues, or involved in traumatic accidents
• Provide comfort and support to patient families and friends
• Respond to urgent situations including Code Blue and deaths at request of staff and family
• Work with hospital staff to enhance sensitivity about spiritual concerns for patients facing terminal illness and loss
• Conduct religious services in the hospital chapel
• Maintain patient information confidentiality

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in theology, spirituality, pastoral ministry, or equivalent: Required
• Enrolled in or completed a Clinical Pastoral Education program (ACPE or CPSP recognized): Required
• Active engagement toward Commissioned Minister License or Credential with accredited Seventh-day Adventist Church: Required
• Board certification through APC, ACI, or CPSP within 5 years of hire: Required
• Ministry related experience: Preferred
