About the Role
Adventist Health Glendale is seeking a Resident Chaplain for a full-time, on-site position (8-hour day shifts) at their Glendale, CA hospital. Working under a seasoned chaplain, this role provides spiritual support to patients, families, and hospital staff, respecting the dignity and faith traditions of each individual.
The position requires active enrollment in an AH-approved Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program (4.0 units completed in one year).
What You'll Do
- Provide pastoral care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues, or involved in traumatic accidents
- Provide comfort and support to patient families and friends
- Respond to urgent situations including Code Blue and deaths at request of staff and family
- Work with hospital staff to enhance sensitivity about spiritual concerns for patients facing terminal illness and loss
- Conduct religious services in the hospital chapel
- Maintain patient information confidentiality
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in theology, spirituality, pastoral ministry, or equivalent: Required
- Enrolled in or completed a Clinical Pastoral Education program (ACPE or CPSP recognized): Required
- Active engagement toward Commissioned Minister License or Credential with accredited Seventh-day Adventist Church: Required
- Board certification through APC, ACI, or CPSP within 5 years of hire: Required
- Ministry related experience: Preferred
