About the Role

Performs basic and critical respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients with respiratory disease, as ordered by the physician. Completes medical records, flow sheets, and charges for each patient.

What You'll Do

• Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapy
• Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy; draw arterial blood gases; care for ventilator patients
• Perform pulmonary function tests, drainage procedures, and cardiorespiratory rehabilitation
• Provide patient and family education on cardiorespiratory disease
• Make rounds to check all respiratory therapy equipment
• Ensure compliance of VAP bundle for all patients on mechanical ventilation
• Serve as a knowledge resource to physicians and hospital staff
• Assist with bronchoscopies, special procedures, quality control, and staff competencies

Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT): Required
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license (CA): Required
• CPR/BLS certification: Required
• ACLS certification: Required
• PALS certification: Required
• NRP certification: Preferred
• Bachelor's Degree: Preferred
