Police Officer Recruit (Pre-Service/Academy Graduate)

About the Role

Glendale Police Department is hiring Police Officer Recruits (Pre-Service/Academy Graduate track) — earn up to $157,000/year including incentive pays (detective pay, longevity pay, POST certificate pay). Candidates must be currently attending or have graduated within the past year from a California POST approved Basic Police Academy. This entry-level, non-sworn classification participates in post-academy training.

What You'll Do

• Respond to calls for service: accidents, emergencies, crimes, threats, altercations, requests for aid
• Practice Community-Based Policing focused on collaborative problem solving
• Administer first aid; interview and record statements from witnesses, suspects, and victims
• Apprehend suspects, enforce traffic laws, investigate accidents and juvenile matters
• Serve subpoenas and warrants, testify in court, work with the City/District Attorney's Office

Requirements

• High school graduation, GED, CHSPE, HiSET, or CPP certificate
• Current enrollment in, or graduation (within 1 year) from, a California POST Basic Police Academy — documentation required

How to Qualify

Submit an application AND complete the "Law Enforcement – Frontline National" exam through the National Testing Network by September 8, 2026, no earlier than one year before applying.
