Principal / Sr. Principal Software Engineer (C++ and TS Clearance)

About the Role

Principal or Sr. Principal Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Woodland Hills, CA. Modernizes and productionizes a research codebase for critical national defense applications using C/C++ and modern DevSecOps practices.

Clearance: Active Top Secret + Continuous Evaluation required | Relocation assistance may be available | 10% travel | 100% on-site

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for junior software engineers
• Develop software utilizing C/C++ to modernize and productionize a research codebase with modern C++ features
• Build software infrastructure for CI/CD, software metrics collection, and MLOps
• Implement applications and architectures supporting increased modularity, scalability, and reliability
• Ensure industry software engineering best practices and standards
• Collaborate with Software Leads and Architects on program intent and system capabilities

Basic Qualifications

Principal (T03): BS STEM + 5 yrs; MS STEM + 3 yrs; or PhD + 1 yr; Active Top Secret clearance; C/C++ experience; CI/CD pipelines; Git

Sr. Principal (T04): BS STEM + 8 yrs; MS STEM + 6 yrs; or PhD + 4 yrs; same clearance, onsite, C/C++, CI/CD, and Git requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Modern C++20; Docker/Kubernetes; Linux; CUDA and GPUs
• High-performance numerical/scientific or parallel computing
• Signal-processing algorithms; Agile/Scrum/DevSecOps experience

Pay & Benefits

Principal: $114,000–$171,000/yr | Sr. Principal: $142,200–$213,400/yr. Bonus-eligible; health insurance, life/disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and PTO.
