Principal Data Scientist — Games

About the Role

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a highly analytical, strategic, and collaborative Games Principal Data Scientist to join the Disney Games & Digital Entertainment team. This role serves as a key individual contributor, driving advanced analytics, predictive modeling, experimentation, and data insights across Disney's groundbreaking partnership with Epic Games in the development of an expansive new Disney digital universe connected to Fortnite.

You will partner with Product, Technology, Content, Marketing, and Executive Leadership teams to deliver data-driven insights that shape games product strategy, optimize player engagement, improve monetization outcomes, and influence long-term business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data science systems, experimentation frameworks, dashboards, and behavioral analytics.
• Develop predictive models and statistical analyses for player behavior, monetization, and engagement.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate complex data insights into actionable product and business decisions.
• Define and track key metrics across the player lifecycle.
• Influence game design, feature development, and go-to-market strategies with data.

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or R).
• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation at scale.
• Expertise in predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in gaming analytics, interactive entertainment, or digital consumer products.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms (e.g., Spark, BigQuery, Databricks).
• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.

The hiring range for this position in California is $155,700–$208,700 per year.
