What You'll Do

• Respond to calls for service: accidents, emergencies, crimes, threats, and requests for aid
• Administer first aid; interview witnesses, suspects, and victims; prepare written reports
• Enforce traffic laws, direct traffic, issue citations, investigate accidents
• Apprehend suspects using safe driving, foot pursuit, physical control, and firearms as appropriate
• Investigate matters involving juveniles; serve warrants; testify in court; mark and store evidence

Requirements

Experience:

• Currently employed and in good standing with a California Law Enforcement Agency as a police officer

Education:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Graduation from an accredited California POST Law Enforcement Academy

License:

• Valid Class C California driver's license

Other:

• Minimum 21 years of age at time of appointment
• Good moral character; legally authorized to work in the United States

Pay & Benefits

$8,645.49–$11,921.71/month base pay (up to $160,000/year including incentive pays: administrative assignment pay, longevity pay, and educational/POST certificate pay). Paid bonding leave for childbirth and adoptions.
