About the Role

The City of Burbank is hiring Police Officers. Under direction, performs a variety of peace officer duties in the protection of life and property, including patrol, law enforcement, investigation, and community engagement.

Lateral Hiring Incentive: $20,000 signing bonus for qualified lateral hires ($10,000 at hire, $10,000 upon completing probation).

What You'll Do

• Patrol assigned area by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, or vehicle to prevent and detect criminal activity
• Enforce local ordinances, State and Federal laws; maintain law and order
• Respond to calls relating to protection of life and property and traffic incidents
• Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations of criminal incidents, accidents, and hazardous situations
• Interview victims, complainants, and witnesses; collect, preserve, and maintain evidence
• Make arrests; search and transport suspects; serve warrants and subpoenas; testify in court
• Respond to demonstrations, riots, hostage situations, and barricaded subjects
• Maintain proficiency with firearms and authorized police equipment
• Work various shift assignments; overtime with little or no notice

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One of: POST-certified academy graduate (within 1 year of application); current CA sworn police officer in good standing (lateral); former CA sworn police officer within last 3 years eligible for re-hire
• At least 21 years of age at time of appointment
• US citizen or permanent resident alien eligible for citizenship
• Good moral character; no felony convictions
• Physically fit; valid California Class C driver's license

Schedule & Pay

Full-time, various shifts. Salary range: $109,257.72–$136,447.74/yr. Physical agility test required.
