Librarian

About the Role

Workforce Librarian — Burbank Public Library (City of Burbank). Full-time, 40 hours/week, Tuesday–Saturday.

Supports the Job Connect program: one-on-one career counseling, employer outreach, and job seeker programming. Also handles collection development and reference desk assignments.

Provides professional library services including reference and readers' advisory, library programs for youth and adults, bibliographic instruction, community outreach, and staff supervision in the absence of senior librarians.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver workforce development programs and career counseling
• Build partnerships with local businesses to support job seekers
• Select materials for youth and adult collections
• Provide in-depth reference service; conduct database and Internet searches
• Create and present children's story times, classroom visits, and community presentations
• Track programming budgets; maintain library statistics and records
• Monitor and post on social media and the library website

Employment Standards

• Knowledge of public library services, reference sources, library automation systems, and collection development
• Ability to serve diverse populations courteously, communicate clearly, and deliver programs effectively
• Supervisory experience preferred

Education / Training

• Master's Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited school
• 1 year of professional library experience preferred
• Valid California Class "C" driver's license may be required

Salary

$71,130–$98,054/year
