About the Role
The Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for The Walt Disney Company, encompassing recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and licenses music worldwide across television, print, gaming, and consumer products.
The Music Research team works closely with production partners across Disney's brands on music cue sheets for productions presented by its entertainment studios, ensuring accurate and timely music reporting to performing rights organizations. The team supports royalty distributions, publishing revenue, and compliance with industry reporting requirements. The Music Research Specialist also provides music identification expertise to partners across the company.
What You'll Do
- Create, review, edit, and finalize cue sheets for music reporting to PROs, sub-publishers, and production stakeholders
- Research and parse multiple sources — composer agreements, music licenses, PRO databases, music library portals — to build accurate cue sheets
- Onboard and train production parties to use the company's cue sheet program
- Deliver finalized cue sheets and reporting materials to stakeholders
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external international cue sheet stakeholders
- Organize and prioritize cue sheet work to meet quarterly deadlines
- Provide music identification services for Disney-owned productions
- Contribute to process improvements for cue sheet quality and accuracy
Requirements
- 2+ years of cue sheet preparation experience
- College degree and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Working knowledge of music publishing, performing rights, and licensing for film, television, and streaming cue sheets
- Experience researching music rights and resolving discrepancies across sources
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Experience with Soundmouse, RapidCue, or other automated cue sheet programs
- Must be available to work onsite 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday); Fridays are remote with flexibility to work onsite as needed
Preferred: experience with DAWs (Apple Logic, Pro Tools); musical experience or ability to recognize musical elements
Schedule & Pay
Onsite 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday); remote Fridays. The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $61,800 to $79,800 per year based on a 40-hour work week.
