Microbiology Lab Manager

About the role

The Microbiology Laboratory Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Burbank Microbiology laboratory, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely testing for the local and national customer base. Burbank is a GMP-registered facility supporting microbiological testing of OTC drug products, cosmetics/personal care products, antibiotic products, and sterility-related testing.

What you'll do

• Own all quality, customer, people, financial, and workflow activities within Microbiology
• Focus on on-time delivery (OTD), backlog control, timely PET/stability/sterility starts, and method suitability readiness
• Promote a culture of cGMP compliance, data integrity, and technical accuracy; keep the lab audit- and inspection-ready
• Ensure timely, high-quality results and proactive communication on delays or technical concerns
• Maintain a safe, engaging environment; train, support, and develop supervisors and analysts
• Manage labor, overtime, inventory, and supplies while improving OTD, productivity, and utilization
• Drive continuous improvement through root-cause problem solving and LabWare workflow improvement
