Executive Director, Student Housing and Residential Life

About the Role

The Executive Director provides leadership, vision, and management direction for Student Housing and Residential Life and serves as CSUN's chief housing officer, overseeing a program serving approximately 3,740 residents across 23 residence halls, 11 apartment buildings, and guest housing.

What You'll Do

• Lead strategic planning and assessment initiatives for residential programs
• Administer a budget of approximately $37 million, including reserve funds
• Oversee facility operations, maintenance, and capital improvement projects
• Direct marketing and retention efforts to maximize occupancy
• Manage emergency preparedness, safety, security, and crisis response
• Supervise 9 professional employees (6 leads) and approximately 247 total staff and student employees
• Collaborate with campus departments on academic and programmatic services
• Develop the housing master plan and advocate on regulatory compliance

Requirements

• Master's degree in higher education administration, student personnel, or a related field
• Six years of full-time, progressively responsible experience in student housing operations in higher education, including at least three years in a management role
• Demonstrated success leading large, diverse staff; strong crisis management, facilities, budget, and strategic planning skills

Schedule

Full-time, management position (MPP classification), based in Northridge, CA.

Pay & Benefits

Hiring range $160,000–$180,000/year, dependent on qualifications and experience. Excellent fringe benefits package.
