About the role
The City of Burbank is hiring an Energy Trader - Scheduler, a management position that prepares, schedules, and arranges for the purchase, sale, transmission, and transfer of energy (electricity and natural gas) used in the operation of the city's utility.
What you'll do
- Buy and sell energy; schedule and nominate; market and trade with other suppliers to maximize utilization of City-owned resources
- Forecast near-term energy needs and market prices using weather data and other variables
- Arrange and execute short-term contracts on behalf of the City
- Perform end-of-month energy accounting; check and verify energy billings
- Prepare reports and submissions to regulatory agencies; assist in resource planning and contract negotiations
Requirements
- Knowledge of commodity markets and Federal/State/local utility regulations
- Knowledge of electrical engineering, power plant operations, and gas buying/nominating procedures
- High school diploma plus 3 years of relevant power/utility experience, OR a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, business, finance, or economics plus 2 years of utility experience
