Embedded Software Engineer - Level 3/4

About the Role

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Advanced Weapons Division is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer (Level 3/4) in Northridge, CA. This role supports the Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW) Program as part of the Operational Flight Program (OFP) team. 100% on-site — no hybrid. Active Secret clearance required to start.

What You'll Do

• Implement software based on requirements and defect reports
• Collaborate with systems and software engineers on architecture models
• Develop, integrate, and test software on lab assets
• Support verification and validation of integrated CSCIs
• Participate in all phases of embedded software development including unit/integration testing, system-level integration, and field testing
• Develop software in real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as VxWorks

Requirements — Level 3

• BS in Engineering + 5 years of software engineering experience with embedded systems exposure (MS + 3 years also considered)
• RTOS development experience (VxWorks or similar)
• Ability to read code and verify implementation per Software Requirements Specifications
• Experience with embedded communication protocols (UART, RS-232/422, CAN, ARINC 429)
• Experience integrating embedded software with hardware and troubleshooting hardware/software interface issues
• Current US Government Secret clearance adjudicated within the past 5 years

Requirements — Level 4

• BS in Engineering + 8 years of software engineering experience (MS + 6 years also considered)
• Same clearance, RTOS, and embedded systems requirements as Level 3

Schedule & Location

• Northridge, CA — 100% on-site, no hybrid
• Up to 10% travel

Pay & Benefits

• $114,000–$171,000/year
