About the role
Electro-Mechanical Prototype Engineer on Amazon Leo's OISL Prototyping & Integration team. Primarily lab-focused: fabricating and assembling prototype wire harnesses and PCB assemblies for next-generation optical communication hardware.
Export Control: Candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees/asylees.
What you'll do
- Build prototype wire harnesses and PCB assemblies from engineering schematics and wiring diagrams
- Perform PCB soldering, rework, and inspection (through-hole and surface mount)
- Execute mil-spec connector crimping and pinning
- Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and hardware traceability records
- Perform functional and continuity testing on completed assemblies
Requirements
- 3+ years in electro-mechanical assembly or electronics manufacturing
- Hand soldering proficiency (IPC-7711/7721 or equivalent)
- Experience with mil-spec connector crimping and pinning
- Ability to read engineering schematics and wiring diagrams
