District Support Pharmacist

About the Role

District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) cultivate a culture of excellence within each pharmacy they cover, filling pharmacist scheduling gaps under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader. While working in stores throughout the district, the DSP supports management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team.

What You'll Do

• Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts, overseeing the pharmacy as the Pharmacy Manager's proxy during bench shifts
• Ensure safe, accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails
• Assume the Pharmacy Manager's day-to-day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist on duty
• Resolve insurance and medication issues and coach the pharmacy team on patient care
• Deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize
• Support pharmacy inventory management, with a focus on protecting cold chain products
• Maintain clinical and technical skills, including required trainings and CMEs
• Support testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible

Requirements

Must comply with all relevant federal and state pharmacy laws, regulations, and CVS Health policies and procedures, including controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping.
