About the Role
NBCUniversal seeks a Counsel, Employment Law to provide strategic and practical legal counsel to the Company's HR professionals and business executives.
What You'll Do
- Advise HR, corporate, and production executives on employment law issues: CA and other states' employment laws, accommodation/leave requests, employee misconduct, performance management, policy development, reductions in force, wage-and-hour issues
- Oversee and provide counsel on internal investigations
- Represent NBCUniversal at mediations, arbitrations, and in litigation of employment claims
- Draft correspondence, EEOC/state agency position statements, mediation statements, and settlement/separation agreements
- Monitor legal/legislative developments and advise on emerging employment law issues
- Create and deliver employment law training programs
Requirements
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school (or foreign equivalent)
- Member in good standing of the California state bar, or another state bar qualified to register as California in-house counsel
- 4+ years of employment law experience with a law firm and/or as in-house counsel
- Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills
Schedule & Pay
Hybrid schedule, minimum four days per week in-office. Salary range: $150,000–$185,000/year (bonus and long-term incentive eligible), plus company-sponsored benefits.
