About the Role
The Burbank Police Department is seeking a detail-oriented and service-oriented Administrative Analyst I to centralize Public Records Act processing, audit readiness, systems administration, and monthly validations. Under general supervision, this role performs routine administrative, operational, research, and analytical tasks that improve responsiveness, accuracy, and risk mitigation across the Bureau.
What You'll Do
- Manages CPRA (Public Records Act) requests via the City's portal — intake, scoping, timelines, and fulfillment — while researching applicable Government Codes and case law
- Coordinates across department bureaus and with the City Attorney to collect responsive records and finalize disclosures
- Performs monthly DOJ audits to ensure each inquiry complies with established parameters, and implements corrective actions as needed
- Serves as a system administrator, converting paper-based Records Bureau processes to electronic forms and standardizing digital records
- Assists with basic research, studies, surveys, and data gathering; prepares written reports and may assist with presentations
- Assists with implementation of existing policies, procedures, and practices, including routine personnel policy
- Assists in budget preparation, expenditure monitoring, and routine performance measurement monitoring
- Writes legislative correspondence; responds to departmental and citizen inquiries
- May assist with contract implementation and compliance monitoring
- May supervise, train, or evaluate employees upon completion of supervisory training
- May assist with community outreach or administration of community programs; may serve as staff to elected officials; may drive on City business
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic principles of public administration, governmental budgeting, and fiscal management; personnel management and supervision; basic research methods and analytic techniques; applicable federal, state, and local laws; modern office methods and procedures
- Skill in operating modern computers and related software; accurately following oral and written instructions
- Ability to conduct basic research and compile data; analyze financial and budgetary statements and reports; communicate effectively; prepare written reports; interpret technical documents; maintain confidentiality
- Education/Training: any combination of education and experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities — for example, a bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field
- License & Certificates: a valid California Class "C" driver's license or equivalent may be required at time of appointment
