Job Summary
Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and MD/Provider with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary. Functions as triage tech.
Job Requirements
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required.
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent: Preferred.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Emergency Medical Tech (NEMT): Required.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM): Required.
Essential Functions
- Assists the RN and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments; documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
- Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position.
- Provides patient and family education and mentors and trains staff on technical skills within scope of practice.
- Prioritizes patient care and department needs.
